Existential Group therapy

Explore Life’s Big Questions

As humans, we are not all that different;

The challenges we face as humans are similar. We constantly balance between the paradoxical such as —meaninglessness and meaning, loneliness and community, death and life. We can jointly explore these themes and how they affect us through existential group therapy. It is a form of therapy based on psychotherapist Irvin D. Yalom's principles in existential psychotherapy. In these meetings, we create a place where you can explore and understand the big questions in life together with others.

What is existential group therapy?

It is based on principles from existential psychotherapy, where the focus is on the fundamental aspects of human existence. Here, we have the opportunity to share our experiences and insights on issues such as:
  • Meaninglessness and Meaning: How do we find meaning in existence, especially when confronted with life's difficulties and challenges?
  • Loneliness and Community: How do we deal with feelings of loneliness, and how can we build deep, meaningful relationships with others?
  • Life and Death: How do we relate to our own mortality, and how can we live a more authentic and fulfilling life?

Benefits of Existential Group Therapy

  • Community: Sharing your experiences with others in a similar situation can make you feel less lonely and more understood.
  • Insight: By reflecting on the big questions in life, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your values.
  • Support: You get support from both the group and the therapist.
  • Development: Confronting and discussing existential questions can strengthen one's sense of meaning and direction in life.

How does it work?

In the group discussions, we meet regularly in a safe and open environment where participants can express their thoughts and feelings. The conversations are led by an experienced therapist who guides the discussions and ensures that all voices are heard. The group's dynamics and shared experiences create a rich source of both support and insight.
